Lunch On the Coast of Sanibel Island

Brown Pelicans

These were immature brown pelicans fishing for their lunch. As soon as they spotted a fish, and did their awkward dive, the sea gulls flew all around them trying to steal lunch for themselves. They were putting on quite a show, as were the Royal Terns with their diving.

These pictures make me homesick a little.. I was born and raised in Florida and I have fond memories of the beach. :)

I had a blast watching them when over at Sanibel a couple of weeks ago. My favorite bird!

Absolutely fantastic photos and the video was spectacular. It reminded me of a CD I had once with the natural sounds of birds, the ocean, the rain forest, and city streets. I could sleep to all of it, but the city streets, of course, lol.

The pelicans are not only fun to watch, but also such a beautiful bird. We saw many and I miss being in Sanibel SO much. We had a wonderful time!! Sanibel truly is a little slice of heaven for me.
