Good Stork/Bad Egret

Here you have my entry for this week! The first one is 'Good Stork'. You probably think that having a big stork standing in your dead 'Charley Tree', is bad.

No, having a Great Egret standing on the roof is BAD! Especially when you see what it left on the shingles.

If you noticed when I first posted my Camera Critters, I had a title 'Good Stork/Bad Stork. Kind of catchy, huh? Well thanks to Fishing Guy, who pointed out that the second photo was not a stork, but a Great Egret instead. He was so right! So, there goes the comparison of good and bad Storks. But, the Great Egret was bad because it left that unsightly mess on the roof. It has taken the entire rainy season and a couple of Tropical Storms to get rid of it. I guess Mother Nature does take care of everything. :-) Thanks Fishing Guy!

The stork on top of the house is so 'the stork brings the baby' kinda story! :)
Love that silhouette!

I guess some folks would like to find a stork standing on their roof :)

When I visited Lakeland this past winter I was taken by the prehistoric apperance of the wood storks face.

Wow... I don't think I have seen a stork before... so seeing a stork either way would be neat but I can imagine the mess it would leave on the roof... but these are awesome photos!
Thanks for visiting mine today.. I really appreciate it! =)

Tootie: The first on is a stork but that second on looks like a Great White Egret. Look at the difference in the beak. Great show they are putting on for you.

And that's why you shouldn't mind having your house TP'd.

I've never seen a stork except in photos...and, although it makes total sense, it never occurred to me that to have one on the roof could be kinda messy. ;-)

I can just imagine...I've seen the scratching they do in the wild.

Goodness! That's not a nice thing to leave behind.

You are right! Thanks! I didn't pay close enough attention. When I searched back for some photos I was thinking I had two of storks and didn't even look that close. The big mess it left on the roof is what had my attention. :-) Boy, that sure ruins my nifty title, huh? :-)) There were a couple of days where there were 8 or 10 storks sitting in that tree. It is a very tall Australian Pine tree that got mostly uprooted during Huricane Charley. It is kind of an eye sore, but the birds love it.

Storks and egrets...wow! Must be nice having yardbirds like them...as long as they leave the shingle alone. 8v)

I've never had a stork on my roof but one day before my second child was born I was having coffee with a friend in my backyard and suddenly a stork flew over our heads. So I like your stork or egret on your roof! It brings back good memories!

hehe I wouldn't really know the difference between them myself. Catchy title all the same and cool pictures. Isn't it funny about cleaning up after a bird. We had one leave an offering on our bedroom window that we're still waiting for the rains to get rid of.

There are Egrets here by me but not Storks. Wish I can get a shot like you did.

I've never seen a stork in person before. What lovely photo's, not something most people wake up to every day.
